Dear Multiverse
ANY question will be answered. We care.

A man steps into the Nexus with a friendly smile. He's a big man, and exudes an aura of power, money, and friendliness. Anyone who pays attention to the newspapers in similar worlds would instantly recognize one Mr. Bruce Wayne. And, it seems, he has a question.

He seats himself and leans back in his chair, thinking about how to phrase this before actually speaking up. "I've known this girl for a long time. She's smart, intelligent, athletic, and gorgeous. And, by now, a very old friend. And it's about time I moved the relationship into, you know. An actual relationship." Here, Bruce pauses and looks out at the masses. "...So, how can I break the news to her father without Commissioner Gordon arresting me?" Can he actually do that? seems to be the unasked question. It seems that Barbara's father has been making some comments here and there.

That, or Bruce just remembers some of the comments Jim made to Dick when he was dating the girl.

This is by far the first Batman she's met in the Nexus--and elsewhere--who seems to be the closest match to her father. At first, the question makes her think of her mother, the late Selina Kyle, but once Gordon's name comes up, she can't keep the shock off her face.

"You're talking about... Barbra Gordon?" she manages, after a moment.

Bruce is from a... Friendlier world. A world where Batman rescues puppies. A world where he doesn't have to deal with Jason Todd. A world without Zatanna looming over fun Silver-Aged villains with a memory-erasing mallet.

"...Is there a problem with this, Miss?"

Oh, God. Don't tell him he dated the Huntress sometime. He'd probably have a heart attack and pass on the Bat-mantle to some punk teen.

The animated world and old school Earth-Two are very similar, yes!

"Not... exactly," she says, after a moment. "Just not the person I was thinking of when you first started talking."

What do you mean, animated? The real Earth-One should be obvious. B|

"Ah. I'm sorry?" He really does look apologetic, here. "I know I've had a... History, but really. Uh."

...Boy, try not to chew on your foot so hard.

She manages an amused grin, all the same. "Things not work out with Selina, Mr. Wayne?"
9th-Oct-2007 04:31 am (UTC)
"She's a very charming woman, yes, but." There's a small shrug. "She's also a wanted criminal. That poses a small problem, don't you think?"

He wants to say she's the Huntress but... She's not showing enough skin. And the face is wrong. The jaw may be a little too square.

"Not... as big of one as you'd think," she says. "Then again, a girl's allowed to be biased about her mother."
9th-Oct-2007 04:48 am (UTC)
"I wasn't aware that she was so..." He pauses. Calling the girl's mother 'Old' might not be the brightest thing to do. "Ah. Something to do with this place, I suppose."

"Now there's the World's Greatest Detective," she teases. "But you're right. I'm the daughter of my Earth's Selina... and Bruce Wayne."
9th-Oct-2007 07:19 am (UTC)
...That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we in the business like to call a Batflail.

This is what we like to call an amused woman who's successfully managed to surprise the World's Greatest Detective.

"On my Earth, Batman convinced Catwoman to give up her life of crime. She turned herself in, did her time, and when she was released... they were married."
