just me, movie poster
Victor walks into the Nexus, glancing around idly and taking in the usual crowd of people. He looks better than he did the last time he was here -- the exhausted look is gone, and he's standing up a little straighter. His expression is calm and controlled -- he looks comfortable. At ease.

And yet. . .there's something ever so slightly off about him today. It's something about his too-perfect posture, his too-calm expression. They don't seem very Victorish, for some reason. And there's something wrong about his eyes, though you would be hard-pressed to name exactly what. Just -- something that's not quite right.

He stops near the sign, regards it for a moment, then turns to the Nexus at large. "Excuse me," he says, in a voice that's just a touch off too (too cool, too easy). "But how do you get rid of that annoying little voice in your head?"

(OOC: Okay, as you probably already guessed, this isn't exactly Victor. He got possessed recently by none other than the King of Hearts. You see, as the Queen is linked to Alice, the King is linked to Alice's love, and that unfortunately means bad things for Victor. More explanation will be given as interaction occurs, but here's a note: If you're capable of sensing such things (telepathic, able to see souls, stuff like that), you'll probably notice that Victor's been trapped in the back of his own brain, where he's begging the King not to hurt his friends or kill him.)

John looks up from over the couch and raises an eyebrow.

"Apparently there's medical facilities you can go to for that."
6th-Feb-2011 03:42 am (UTC)
Victor looks over. "Medical facilities?" he repeats, sounding a bit dubious. "Sounds -- drastic." He doesn't want to risk himself in getting rid of this annoying little problem.
6th-Feb-2011 04:01 am (UTC)
"It is a bit..." John shrugs. "Especially in your time. I think they stick you in a little room and tie you to a bed. You should porbably avoid it."

Purses his lips thoughtfully and pulls out one the bottles of hypervodka.

"Would you like some?"
6th-Feb-2011 04:03 am (UTC)
"Victor's" eyes widen a little, and he steps back. "Yes, that does sound like something to avoid." One point where he and Victor-for-real are in agreement -- no Victorian era asylums. That would be bad.

"Oh, thank you," "Victor" says, accepting the bottle. He takes a sip, then does a whole body shudder. "Goodness, that is strong. . . ." Any red flags going up for you, John?
6th-Feb-2011 04:18 am (UTC)
John's eyebrows rise. Since when has Victor been able to drink so much as a drop of hypervodka without practically chhoking to death?

"Are you LOL'd or something?"
6th-Feb-2011 04:21 am (UTC)
It helps when the person in charge is really Wonderlandian and used to drinking strange things.

"Victor" blinks and frowns. "I -- beg your pardon?" Yeah, your Victor impression needs work, buster.
6th-Feb-2011 05:11 am (UTC)
Unfortunately, John's over familiarity with the Nexus leads him to the wrong conclusion.

"You're some sort of alternate Victor aren't you? First time here right?"
6th-Feb-2011 03:49 am (UTC)
This is much cause for concern from April, who is telepathic, and can sense that something is not right. And believes it has to do with victor's earlier question, which she answered.

"I could help you with that, Victor." Gentle smile. Because of course, she plans to help Victor, and not the King of Hearts, if he grants her access to his mind.
6th-Feb-2011 03:58 am (UTC)
Depending on how good April's senses are at the moment, she might be able to hear Victor pleading, Please don't hurt her please

Why should I hurt her? the King responds, genuinely puzzled. I have no issue with her. Only you. Which is actually the truth -- the King has no interest in hurting anybody else. He's actually fairly affable. If he wasn't so set on this "destroying Victor" thing, everybody might be able to coexist peacefully. As it is, though. . . .

"Victor" smiles at April. "Oh, hello again! I'd hate to be a bother, it's just -- this annoying little voice that doesn't know when to shut up. . ." He shrugs. "Do you know how it is?"
6th-Feb-2011 04:02 am (UTC)
April is very careful not to betray the fact that she can hear both sides of the mental conversation. No sense showing her cards.

"Of course I do Victor. I was able to control an annoying voice in my head." This is the truth, as she refers to her vampire side. "And I could help you."
6th-Feb-2011 04:09 am (UTC)
A very wise decision.

"Really? That sounds perfect, then," "Victor" replies, still smiling. "I don't think it'll take long to k-silence it." He may be acting a little dumb, letting a friend of Victor's into his mind, but he honestly believes that anyone who knew Victor is going to prefer him, and that he'll have no trouble convincing her to get rid of Victor. You see, it's all to do with how he's connected to Victor. The Queen, back when Wonderland was deformed, was connected to Alice's insanity. The King, afflicted similarly, latched onto the closest analogue in Victor's mind -- a rather pronounced case of self-loathing. (That's how he hid from April last time.)
6th-Feb-2011 04:12 am (UTC)
"It would be better to do this somewhere else." Where April can ensure that she can do the most help for Victor.
6th-Feb-2011 04:17 am (UTC)
"Oh?" "Victor" looks around and frowns. "Actually, yes, it is rather crowded here. . .anywhere you could suggest?"
6th-Feb-2011 04:18 am (UTC)
"I do not have a Nexus apartment anymore. But we could go to my new place in Smallville."
6th-Feb-2011 03:55 am (UTC)
Jayne don't know Victor at all, but he does know a thing about annoying voices at the back of the head.

"Alcohol, usually. Or startin' up trouble."
6th-Feb-2011 03:59 am (UTC)
Victor -- or, rather, the presence posing as him -- tilts his head with an awkward smile. "I don't think starting trouble would work for me right now," he admits. "A drink, on the other hand. . .maybe something to consider."
6th-Feb-2011 04:04 am (UTC)
"Yeah, trouble ain't worth it 'less yanno you can get out of it again." Jayne nodnods. He's an expert at that sort of thing. "Should be a bar 'round here, somewhere. If not, prolly ain't hard to find bottles 'f booze lyin' around."
6th-Feb-2011 04:10 am (UTC)
"Precisely -- or have the authority to stop anyone from trying to stop you," Victor agrees, grimacing a little as he recalls less-than-pleasant memories. He chuckles slightly. "I'm sure I'll find something, if only I look hard enough."
6th-Feb-2011 05:48 pm (UTC)
The LOLed Controller gives him an odd, narrow-eyed look for a minute. And then an abrupt burst of laughter. "You don't."
6th-Feb-2011 06:04 pm (UTC)
Victor -- or, rather, the King of Hearts -- gives her a funny look in return. "Don't? But doesn't that get annoying?"
6th-Feb-2011 06:29 pm (UTC)
"It's maddening. But we must learn to live with it, or we'll forget our own voices. Quash it, ignore it, appease it - but never delude yourself it's gone. The mind is not so easily silenced."

She pauses, no longer focusing on him but looking into space. "I've become so tired of seeing people lose themselves."
6th-Feb-2011 06:37 pm (UTC)
The King looks annoyed by this. "I wouldn't forget my own voice after getting rid of this one. In fact, I think mine would just become stronger." (Actually, he'd die if Victor died, but his mental state isn't the most logical right now.) "I don't see why it needs to stay." Victor's weak protest of It's my body is ignored.
6th-Feb-2011 06:56 pm (UTC)
Her gaze flicks back to him, Telrim looking momentarily surprised that he's still there. "'Getting rid of it'? Oh, if it were only that easy."

She chuckles. "The mind is intertwined with the body. Try to obliterate it, by all means! See if the brain still works for you afterwards. There are no simple solutions in infestation no matter who demands them. What the fools don't realise is that's what makes us strong."
6th-Feb-2011 07:15 pm (UTC)
"I thought it would be much easier," he grumbles to himself. Those mental blocks April provided Victor with should have been perfect for keeping Victor out, but somehow he can still hear his host's voice. It's frustrating.

The King tilts his head, frowning. "I'm not sure I understand, my lady. Could you say what you mean by that? It's not the same thing as meaning what you say, and I would like to know."
6th-Feb-2011 08:27 pm (UTC)
"But it's so clear." Er, from the other end of the ranting, certainly. "You can't simply remove the host. You have to work for it, for control, for a voice, for the very right to see the world. There is no room for weakness, stupidity, complacency. The very fact of survival proves our superiority."
